Mythomorpho (Italy)

MYTHOMORPHO
by Compagnia dei Folli (Italy)

PERFORMANCE
Ambit: Urban Theatre

In a world that has already faced its own collapse, a new humanity moves through the ruins searching for fragments of meaning. In Mythomorpho, the Compagnia dei Folli imagines a post-apocalyptic society attempting to rebuild itself through the rediscovery of ancient myths – not as distant stories, but as living tools to understand existence, community, and survival. In a landscape suspended between memory and rebirth, archetypal figures emerge as guides for a fragile civilization: the forbidden fire of knowledge stolen by Prometeo becomes the symbol of humanity’s need to risk in order to evolve, Pandora is reinterpreted through the lens of stigma as the figure of the woman historically blamed as the bearer of disaster. The Minotaur becomes the embodiment of the fear of the “other”: the unknown, the hybrid, the excluded, questioning who defines monstrosity and who is condemned to carry it. Then through Persefone, the performance explores the theme of female trauma and the possibility of confronting and transforming it, moving from abduction and loss toward awareness, resilience, and cyclical rebirth. Through masks, physical theatre, stilts, vertical dances and striking visual imagery, the performance creates a ritual space where bodies become symbols and transformation becomes language.

The stage turns into a threshold between past and future, where myth is no longer a memory of lost civilizations, but a map for those who must invent a new world.
Mythomorpho is conceived as a collective rite: a journey in which the community rediscovers, through mythological storytelling, new forms of identity, relationship, and belonging. In the absence of certainties, myth becomes a shared vocabulary – a way to name fear, imagine hope, and shape the possibility of a future.
