{"id":411,"date":"2024-12-08T18:27:09","date_gmt":"2024-12-08T18:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.my-ma.eu\/wp\/?p=411"},"modified":"2026-03-02T10:45:54","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T10:45:54","slug":"myma-international-scientific-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.my-ma.eu\/wp\/2024\/12\/08\/myma-international-scientific-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Portolan for Actors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.my-ma.eu\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/the-visions-of-tondal-1479-hieronymus-bosch.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The International Scientific Committee of the project Myths &#038; Masks of the Future, established in 2023 following the approval of the project by the European Community\u2019s EACEA Agency, met again remotely on 4 December to meet the directors of the new theatrical productions created by the project partners, previews of which were presented at the Opole (PL) festival on 3 and 4 August.<\/p>\n<p>The international committee was established for research and exchange of good practices in the field of creation and circulation of performances that implement the use of the mask, bodily expression and dramaturgy of myth. <\/p>\n<p>The research not only have a historical and philological nature, but aim at carrying out an investigation into the resources and contemporary practices of the above mentioned languages, especially in the context of popular performing arts (street theatre, contemporary circus and puppetry above all).<\/p>\n<p>Part of the research activity will explicitly include the presence of artists, mask creators, set designers and various creatives, to ensure an international exchange of practices on the techniques covered by the research and innovation path.<\/p>\n<p>The aims of the International Committee are to promote the role of the mask in contemporary theatre as a tool for language innovation; deepen the peculiarities of this medium in allowing soft skills acquisition paths and improving interpersonal skills, also in relation to the world of disability and social unease (aniis); to deepen the characteristics of the dramaturgy of the myth in contemporary theatre and to identify the &#8220;new myths&#8221; that can favour the transition towards an inclusive, resilient and sustainable society; to promote the exchange of good practices between European theatre and circus organizations and disseminate the results of the studies.<\/p>\n<p>The committee is chaired by Prof. Walter Valeri of the Sartori Mask Center.<\/p>\n<p>During this latest meeting, Andrea Brugnera\u2019s study \u201cPORTOLAN FOR ACTORS, THE MIDDLE AGES AND PROPS\u201d was presented. His work bridges performance practice and scholarly inquiry, with a focus on physical theatre, mask work, and the dramaturgy of myth. As a performer, he has collaborated on experimental and research-based theatre projects across Europe. As a playwright, he explores the relationship between tradition and contemporary stage language.
